Pinasinungalingan ng Armed Forces of the Philippines na binuwag na ang Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group.
Ayon kay AFP Public Affairs Chief Col. Xerxes Trinidad, ginawa lamang nilang AFP Security and Protection Group ang VPSPG bilang bahagi ng administrative adjustment at upang pag-isahin ang mga security and protection operation.
Tiniyak din ni Col. Trinidad ang matatag at walang humpay na pagbibigay ng proteksyon ng AFPSPG kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Binuo VPSPG noong June 2022 kasabay ng pag-upo ni Sara Duterte bilang Bise Presidente ng bansa. —sa panulat ni John Riz Calata
