Itinanggi ng Malakanyang ang ‘di umano’y plano ng Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na patalsikin sa kanilang katutubong lupain ang mga Lumad.
Ipinaliwanag ni Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque na ang intensyon lamang ng Pangulo ay papasukin ang pag-unlad sa lupain ng mga Lumad sa pamamagitan ng pagbubukas dito sa mga investor.
Inalmahan ni Roque ang pahayag ni UN Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous People Vicky Tauli Corpuz na maituturing na ‘ethnocide’ ang hakbang na ito ng Pangulo.

He [President Duterte] is not forcibly removing them from ancestral domains, that’s not claim of monopoly of knowledge of the Lumad communities’ problems are.
What he meant perhaps on reclamation is, if there are investors coming in… it doesn’t mean that they will be expelled from their ancestral domains.
