Inaprubahan na ng Senado sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa ang bill para sa free internet access sa mga pampublikong lugar at government office sa buong bansa.
Labingwalong Senador ang bumoto pabor sa Senate Bill 1277 o “an act establishing the free internet access program in public spaces in the country.”
Sa ilalim ng panukala, dapat magkaroon ng free wi-fi access sa lahat ng National at Local Government offices; public basic education institutions; state universities and colleges;
Public hospitals at health centers; public parks, plazas at libraries; public airports, seaports at public transport terminals.
Inihayag naman ni Senate President Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto, isa sa mga orihinal na proponent at ngayo’y isa sa mga co-sponsor ng bill na bukod sa pagiging available para sa lahat ng mamamayan, titiyakin din sa panukala ang mabilis at maayos na broadband services.
