A senior executive of Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA)  vehemently denies news reports posted online and published by a  major news publication that  she was involved in the nefarious operations of human smuggling syndicate at the airport

Ms. Edelyn Solano in a phone interview said that her daughter  asked her about the article linking her in  the activities of human smugglers

“Nakakalungkot, tinanong ako ng anak ko kung totoo ang nabasa na sangkot ako sa sindikato ng human smugglers, siyempre nagulat ako at doon ipinakita sa akin kung saan niya ito nabasa , upon reading Solano was shocked and the first thing that got in her mind was why her name was mentioned” Solano said

The news article posted by a reputable broadsheet company written by Ariel Fernandez generated negative comments from netizens who already judged her to be involved

The article also indicates that Solano was sacked of her position and is in floating status  pending result of the investigation after senate inquiry reveal that victims of human smuggling used airport access pass to escape detection by immigration officers

“Sa tagal ko sa airport, hindi po ako nasangkot sa anu mang katiwalian at sana bago man lang inilagay ang pangalan ko ay nagtanong man lang sana yun reporter na si Ariel Fernandez sa Airport Media Affairs  para ma verify ang katotohanan at parehas na pagbabalita” Solano said

Solano added that she was hurt by the article linking her name to human smugggling operations at the airport  and her family is contemplating of filing cyberlibel charges against editors of the broadsheet company and writer Ariel Fernandez

“Nag usap  na kami ng pamilya ko dahil grabe ang pagkasira ng pangalan ng  pamillya sa malisyoso na balita at maghahain kami ng demanda” Solano said

Airport authority Spokesperson Consuelo Bungag Formaly wrote a letter to the editor of Manila Bulletin that the news published  is not true

Bungag said that Solano was not sacked but was promoted as Administrative Department Head and that Solano has nothing to do with illegal operation of human smugglers

Manila bulletin has not replied but it has already taken down the malicious and fake news written by Ariel Fernandez

Fernandez has never shown himself at the airport media affairs since it was posted last December 2, 2022

No further explanation from Fernandez as to what was the basis or source of his fake news . -sa ulat mula kay Raoul Esperas (Patrol 45).
