Ayon kay DTI Officer-in-Charge for Secretary at DTI-consumer protection group undersecretary, Atty. Victorio Mario Dimagiba, handang tumalima ang kagawaran sa revised UN guidelines para sa mga consumer.
Kabilang sa guidelines ang unang comprehensive revision ng united nations guidelines for consumer protection simula 1985 na nakatutok sa financial services, privacy, energy, travel at tourism.
Sa oras na ipatupad sa buong mundo ang revised guidelines, magkakaroon ng mas matibay ng proteksyon ang mga consumer kahit saan.
